Sycamore Trio wins Silver at Fischoff

Sycamore Trio wins Silver at Fischoff

Our Sycamore Trio won the SILVER MEDAL (2nd prize) in the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, Junior Division! We are ALL so proud of these young musicians (and their parents!). This is an incredibly huge honor. Congratulations to Tobias Liu (violin), Brandon Leonard (cello), and Grace Peng (piano). Many thanks to the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, who provided spaces in which to coach and scholarships for the ASYO Chamber Player students. Also, MANY kudos to the trio’s coaches from Franklin Pond: Brad Ritchie, Danny Laufer, Jun-Ching Lin, Justin Bruns, Elizabeth Pridgen, and David Coucheron.

When everyone works together, good things happen!

The Fischoff Competition is the nation’s largest and best known chamber music competition – the Gold Standard of competitions. Groups from cities and schools all over the U.S. and Canada participated this year. 55 groups were invited to compete (out of many more applicants), 25 were chosen in the quarterfinals, 10 in the semifinals, and 3 in the finals. The playing in all the divisions is at an incredibly high level and only proves that the future of classical music is in excellent hands.
