Julia laughing at masterclassFranklin Pond’s Summer program is a unique chamber-music program for talented pre-college musicians grades 7-12+. Created as an opportunity for serious students to interact personally with highly qualified professionals, this program offers coaching with musicians from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, master classes with guest artists from all over the United States, and special classes in related disciplines. Students prepare for a final concert as well as informal community concerts. Participating students will go on a retreat, then meet at least one full day per week in July before the Summer Finale Concert in Atlanta. This program is designed to complement the summer schedules of students who wish to stay home and study intensively with their private teachers. Our goal is to develop the artistic and interpretive talents of our students, as well as to strengthen their communication and leadership skills in a collaborative atmosphere.

Pre-formed groups are welcome and can audition either in person or as a group. All auditions are in person and unscreened. Students who need a group are placed to match in temperament and ability. If there is not a good match, we won’t accept students just for the sake of accepting them — the experience would not be rewarding for anyone involved.

Tuition: $1,500 (scholarships available with audition and teacher recommendation)

*All summer concerts are free and open to the public, but donations are much appreciated.
