Enjoy photos from our incredible 1st Annual Chamber Music Competition at Spivey Hall!
One of our biggest joys is performing in a home. After all, that’s what “chamber” music was written for! In January, Jerry and Peggy Stapleton were gracious hosts to over 100 people, most of whom were new to Franklin Pond! We were thrilled that so many gathered to hear the Franklin Pond Quartet (all Franklin Pond coaching artists and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra musicians) and a student piano quintet from our Fall Into Spring program. Rusty Paul, mayor of Sandy Springs, came and spoke about the new Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center. Good music, good people, and good wine made for a delightful and rewarding afternoon.

Congratulations, Annabelle! Beauty, brains, AND talent.
We were very fortunate that Connie Heard, violinist with Blair Quartet at Vanderbilt University, came down from Nashville to work with our Fall Into Spring groups! She worked with all five groups, and many parents came to listen. Another great afternoon!

Students and teachers enjoyed Eurhythmics classes taught by Brian Sweigart, who teaches Eurhythmics at Cleveland Institute of Music.
Eurhythmics teaches concepts of rhythm, structure, and musical expression through movement. It is a required course in many music schools and students really enjoy it. These classes help musicians feel strong rhythm through their whole body, which is essential to good practice and performance.

We had a wonderful time at the annual Christmas party! It’s always fun to see our alumni and current students, watch them have such a good time reading chamber music, and catch up on what they have been doing.

We are so proud of our Franklin Pond alums (Drew Forde, Olivia Hollady, Patrick Shelc, and Davis Butner) who played with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra musicians in the chamber music concert on Sunday, January 8.
