Program Offerings
Fall Into Spring runs October through May. During this time, students will receive a minimum of:
- 8-10 coaching sessions with coaching artists from the Atlanta Symphony and Atlanta Opera Orchestras
- 2 or more masterclasses with nationally recognized distinguished artists
- 2 or more performance opportunities in a formal and informal setting
Additional coachings, master classes, and performance opportunities are available for groups exhibiting consistent rehearsal practices and marked improvement.
Eligibility
Fall Into Spring is open to students in grades 6-12. Although the program focuses primarily on string players and pianists and the broad repertoire that is available for those instruments, non-string players are welcome and encouraged to apply.
Musicians may apply either as individuals looking to be placed in an ensemble or as part of a pre-formed group.

Schedule
The 2026-2027 schedule is not yet finalized. To get a general idea of the annual schedule, you can click below to view last year's calendar of events. This schedule does not include coachings or rehearsals.
Scheduling for rehearsals and coachings is flexible and intended to fit around other student and family activities. Each group will make its own arrangements for the date/time/place of coachings and rehearsals, with Fall Into Spring Manager Lachlan McBane helping facilitate scheduling. A minimum of 3 hours of group rehearsal is required between each coaching session, and students must also practice their own parts individually.

Coachings & Masterclasses
Every ensemble will receive at least 8 coachings from the Franklin Pond coaching artists. Groups will work with at least 2 different coaches throughout the year so they can benefit from multiple musical perspectives.
Ensembles who exhibit a strong commitment to rehearsing and improving will have the opportunity to receive additional coachings.
Each group will have multiple opportunities to play for the distinguished masterclass artists, unless a group is ill-prepared and under-performing. All students are required to attend every masterclass unless a family conflict cannot be changed. Best efforts will be made by Franklin Pond to schedule the masterclasses when students are most readily available.

Performances
All performances are free, kid-friendly, and open to the public.

Community Concerts
Fall Into Spring ensembles have the opportunity to perform in a wide variety of community events, from Christmas Concerts at local libraries to Symphony Hall Stage. Many of these events are scheduled well in advance, although some opportunities pop up at the last minute. Ensembles are chosen to perform based on their preparedness and commitment to a regular rehearsal schedule.
FIS Final Concert
The Fall Into Spring Finale Concert occurs on the last Sunday of April or first Sunday of May, depending on the calendar. Click here for information about the 2026 Spring Finale Concert.
Tuition & Scholarships
Tuition is $1,800 for the school year. This can be paid all at once or in two parts: $900 due with the submission of the participation agreement, and $900 due on December 1.
Scholarships are awarded upon request. A teacher recommendation is required for all students seeking scholarship. Franklin Pond will do everything possible to give deserving students the ability to attend our programs, as we believe financial limitations should never deprive a student of a high quality music education. Scholarship amounts vary depending on the number of students requesting scholarships as well as the annual generosity of our wonderful donors.
