MLK Day Annual Teacher Workshop and Masterclass with Melissa Kraut

All school and private teachers were invited to the Pond for a free teacher workshop and lunch with Melissa Kraut, well known pedagogue on the cello faculty of Cleveland Institute of Music.  Melissa heard three students and everyone benefited from her great teaching techniques and the discussions that ensued.  She talked quite a bit about the value of caring for musician’s bodies through techniques such as Alexander and Feldenkreis to prevent injury from playing.

After lunch the teachers were invited to stay for her chamber music masterclass.  Melissa worked with the four groups of the Franklin Pond Fall Into Spring program, with students ranging from 4th grade through 10th grade.  It was a great day.  Melissa worked very hard and inspired all of us.
